Supporting your mental health needs with treatments supported by research.
While developing the skills that stimulate positive change in your life can be hard work, it can be extremely rewarding. My focus is to help you learn these skills and, together, work to move you towards your goals as efficiently as possible. In this journey towards positive change, finding a registered psychologist who is a good fit is an important first step.
I am a registered psychologist licensed for practice in the province of British Columbia with a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia. In addition to my private practice, I also work as a psychologist at specialty clinic serving first responders and military personnel.
I strongly emphasize the importance of providing treatment that is evidence-based (treatments with results that are well-supported by research). This is a benefit to you because we know, from research, that the types of therapies I use have successfully helped many others with similar types of difficulties. As a result, we can use these therapies with confidence and a good understanding of how you might react to therapy.
For several years, I have also taught the undergraduate course on Abnormal Behaviour at the UBC. Please contact me with any questions or to discuss the possibility of working together.
We can be exposed to trauma at anytime in our lives. Traumatic experiences can have a big impact on how we view and function within our world.
Our PTSD/Operational Stress Injury treatment sessions are designed to help clients process and manage their symptoms following exposure to trauma. We use evidence-based treatments, such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), to help clients process their trauma(s), address their symptoms, and develop long-term coping skills.
We work with many first responders and military personel to address mental health symtoms resulting from service-related mental health concerns.
Many of us experience anxiety. It may present itself as uncontrolable or intrusive worries, difficulty slowing down or relaxing, digestive issues, sleep difficulties, and so forth.

We can experience stress in many areas - career, relationships, friendships, family dynamics, and even simply the day-to-day demands of life.
Our stress management sessions are designed to teach clients practical skills and strategies to manage stress more effectively. We help clients identify the sources of their stress and develop coping mechanisms to reduce its impact on their daily lives.
Things in life can get us down. We can work on addressing stressors and having a better understanding of what contributes to low mood.
Our depression treatment sessions are designed to help clients improve their mental health and well-being. We use evidence-based treatments, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and EMDR, to help clients address their symptoms and develop long-term coping skills.
Poor physical health or pain can certainly have a negative impact on our mental health. Mental health challenges can also negatively impact our health and increase our experience of pain. It can become a vicious cycle.
Our treatment for health concerns and/or chronic pain focuses on understanding the mind-body connection. We use evidence-based treatments, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and EMDR, to help clients address health concerns and the associated mental health symptoms.
Whether it's changing careers, relocating, retirement, becoming a parent, nagivating a divorce, life's transitions can be stressful!
Our life transitions sessions help clients navigate major life changes. We provide clients with the support and guidance they need to reflect on these transitions and manage these changes with increased confidence and clarity.
Our self-esteem and confidence sessions help clients better understand the various factors that influence how we view ourselves. We work towards building a positive self-image and develop greater confidence. We help clients identify negative self-talk and belief patterns and replace them with more positive and empowering ones.
